Years ago in a far away web location, came a man who created a book called Power linking. Not known to the Internet Guru community, this swashbuckling linking madman has continuously led the Internet marketing pack when it comes to linking.

There is NO question that building back links to your website, blog or whatever internet property you own is and will always be your most important daily activity to increase visitor-ship and to increase the silly little green bar in your Google toolbar. Now we can not live and die on page rank but we will most certainly fad into the black-hole of cyberspace if we do not have a consistent linking campaign in place.

So this linking expert, Jack Humphrey has continuously led the way on how to Power Link. Today it is critical you have in place a linking strategy that will bring you not only more PageRank, but more importantly traffic.

The way you do this may be different today then when Jack released his first book on Power Linking, but the importance of it has not changed one bit. Jack has just released the latest version of  his Social Power Linking tactics, but this time it will be in the form of membership. The reason for that is today's linking tactics are much more complex and they are changing each and every month inside of the web 2.0 world. Jack will keep you on the cutting edge of how best to gain as many power inks as possible to your websites.

Remember, this must be your number one strategy as it is the most important activity you can do to gain more visitors and visibility to your website.

Oh a Linking we will go, A Linking we will go…everyday on the internet, a linking we will go….

OK, I know, that is a pretty lame song, but it is getting close to Christmas and I am getting in the spirit of the season from an internet marketing standpoint :)

It's the Copywriting, Not the Keywords

In an online discussion forum I'm a member of, someone recently posed this dilemma:

I've had this site going for about 5 weeks now and never had more than 10 visitors in a day. I'm ranking well for some decent keywords. The visitors that do come are staying a significant amount of time but not giving me their email addresses. Are my keywords lame?

His site deals with relationships. Here's an excerpt from my response:

Gary Halbert: Gone, But Will Never Be Forgotten

I was stunned this morning to see this forum post by John Reese:

"I am sad to report that the great Gary Halbert passed away a few hours ago. I have been learning from Gary since I was 15 years old. I was very blessed to call Gary MY FRIEND. I was fortunate to really get to know the man really well during the past few years. He will definitely be missed. Gary was one of the greatest marketers ever. The beauty of his life is that his work will continue to help and teach budding marketers and copywriters for many many years to come–probably forever."

-John Reese

If you've never heard of Gary Halbert, you haven't been in Internet Marketing very long… or you simply haven't been paying attention. He has been a living legend for many years–an amazing copywriter, a shrewd and incredibly successful marketer.

Here's how Gary once described what he's done:

The Death of the Sales Letter

I've just added an amazing report to my Free Downloads page. It's called "The Death of the Sales Letter" and it's by Michel Fortin, an incredibly successful copywriter and internet marketer. It's just over 50 pages long, but there's zero hype and no selling.

Is the sales letter really dead? If you sell any products online (particularly information products) you better find out.

It's probably one of the most important reports about online marketing that you'll ever read.

In a recent study, more than 125,000 people helped determine the three keys to success for online video advertisements:

1. Brand identity was so prominent from the start of the ad that people remembered the brand along with the content of the ad.

2. The ad linked viewers to additional information about the product.

3. The online ads were part of a larger offline marketing campaign.

These may seem like common sense to anyone who has studied the art of copywriting, and I was glad to see these sensible conclusions from a serious research effort.

(If only creators of TV commercials would pay attention!)

But one of the keys that is left off that list–and the most important, in my opinion, for online marketing–is that the ad should elicit some emotion from its viewers. It can be funny, shocking, enlightening, scary, uplifting, whatever…as long as it's a strong response that gets people talking about it and–even better–sharing links to it. In other words, it's "viral."

Key number 2 is an important element and can make online video ads more effective than expensive TV commercials because it allows tracking of results.

I'm certain that if the effectiveness of TV commercials (or lack thereof) could be accurately tested and tracked, companies would realize they're wasting millions of dollars on totally ineffective ad campaigns (such as the current "Got Milk" ad series featuring aliens desperate for the "wonder tonic"–worst TV ad campaign EVER (and I'm a science fiction fan!)).

Anyway, you can read about the source of this informative research and more interesting results at Bob Johnson's Blog on Internet Marketing.

Making Money with Your Website (Part 2, Copywriting)

In Part 1 of this series, I covered the most common methods of earning money with a website. A vital element is Copywriting, which I'll cover in this installment.

Copywriting is a specific form of writing with the sole purpose of selling. Whether you’re selling your own product, affiliate products, merchandise or anything else, you’ll need to write a “sales letter” that appeals to emotions and answers the prospect’s question, “What benefits will I gain from this product?” Effective

An in-depth explanation of is beyond the scope of this series, but here are 11 basic tips:
