Solano Wireless has come to my rescue!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was afraid I'd be stuck with satellite internet service–or even worse, dial-up–after we move to our new country home.

But a friend referred me to Solano Wireless, and I'm saved!

My thanks to Markus, who provided excellent customer service and kept me in the loop during the entire process of discovering whether or not I could go with the wireless option. The potential problem was that our house must be in "line of sight" of their transmitter to receive this service, and there are lots of trees in my new neighborhood. (Yes, even a tree can block the signal.) It was touch-and-go for a while, and Markus had to come out and actually climb on the roof to make sure the wireless solution would work–and it will! Yeah!

Yep, simple things make me happy.

Now all I gotta do is get a wireless card thingamajig for my PC… and I'll be all set for the hook-up and high-speed 'net action out there in the boonies! :-)

I mentioned in an earlier post that I'll be moving to the country soon. I just checked with my internet service provider (AT&T DSL) and that service is not available where I'm going.

I also just checked with the cable company… nope, no cable service available.

Looks like satellite may be my only high-speed option, though an expensive one. If anyone is using satellite internet service, I'd love to hear your opinion about it… good or bad.

So far my initial research (online forums) is not encouraging. Upload times are very slow and service is unreliable (especially in bad weather; thankfully we don't have much of that here in sunny California).

Sheesh… how's an online entrepreneur supposed to thrive if her internet service sucks? I may have to tell my hubby he's moving without me. :)

Offline Magazines that Help Online Entrepreneurs

Blogger 1: “I just learned a fantastic tip from a magazine!”
Blogger 2: “What is it?”
Blogger 1: “It’s a publication printed on shiny paper that contains lots of articles, photos and ads.”

Fans of the movie “Airplane!” (in my opinion, one of the funniest flicks of all time) may appreciate my attempt at humor.

My point is that many internet marketers spend so much time online that they forget and/or neglect excellent offline resources, such as magazines!

Here, in no particular order, are magazines that can help you with your online business:

It's the Copywriting, Not the Keywords

In an online discussion forum I'm a member of, someone recently posed this dilemma:

I've had this site going for about 5 weeks now and never had more than 10 visitors in a day. I'm ranking well for some decent keywords. The visitors that do come are staying a significant amount of time but not giving me their email addresses. Are my keywords lame?

His site deals with relationships. Here's an excerpt from my response:

Am I Suffering from a Mid-Blog Crisis?

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you may have noticed a change during the past couple of weeks. The quantity and quality of my posts haven't been at the stratospheric level you're used to. (Insert self-deprecating laugh here.)

Here are my excuses:
